I watched a docu last night on HBO about the homeless kids of the OC. Homeless: The Motel Kids of Orange County. A film by Alexandria Pelosi. These kids lived in a motel like a minute away from Disneyland “The Happiest Place on Earth”. If ever there was an example of the disparity between the classes here it is like a slap to the face. All of the children in the docu attended a school for homeless kids called Project HOPE School. It is really inspiring to see amazing projects like that. http://projecthopeschool.org/

Most of the parents seemed to be caring adult who had feel on bad times, of course some were non-existent , which led me to conclude they were either embarrassed or had something to hide. Either way even the kids with “caring” parents were playing in the hotel parking lot shoeless surrounded by gang members and lowlifes. At times the director , Alexandra Pelosi can seem a bit judgmental; but I think more than that she is just frustrated with the whole dire situation. If nothing else I hope to get others to see the film and to possibly donate to Project HOPE and any charity you can stand behind.
We cant walk around with blinders on and be oblivious to the plight of others. If you don’t have time you may have money or clothes or toys. Donate. And if you don’t have any of those things, you may be have time and volunteering your time is a very precious commodity.

Hope
Sad but true fact: I don’t vote often. Reason being, I don’t like to vote on things I don’t know enough about. And I usually don’t know enough about a candidate or issue because A. I have little faith in any candidate and B. Things rarely change. So when Obama came around and gave America a new energy, I began to get interested. I did research and I campaigned for Obama. I voted for Obama. I do not regret that for one second. Obama is not perfect, and it is unfortunate that people expect him to be. Change that comes quickly, doesn’t last. Look at people who diet. Whenever you lose weight too rapidly, you always gain it back and with a vengeance. I still have faith and hope in America and in Obama. He is not a magician and he is not God. He is a human being trying to do something better for all of us. We are all part of the problem and we all have a chance to be a part of the solution.

Dear FB users:
I hate FB. With a passion. I love my family and my friends and I love seeing and knowing what is going on in their lives but I am over it. In all reality it is just a way to brag or bi**h. Its not about networking or keeping in touch. Its about me me me me me. Look at my kid isn’t he just so wonderful and adorable. Look at my family aren’t we just so perfect and happy. Hmm if your really that happy should you be spending time with your “perfect” family instead of posting about it on FB…..just sayin’. If everything really was as honky dory as you portray it to be you wouldn’t feel the need to plaster it all over the world wide web.Also, really…really……do I really care if you are eating cheetos on the couch while your dog is licking your toes….um no. Do you really care if my kid just said his 90th “cutest thing ever”…maybe the first time. We need to stop being to freaking narcissistic, get off our iphones and blackberrys (there aren’t any other types of phones…right?!) and join the real world. A little real life wont kill you….right?!

Miss USA just got worse...
As if pageants weren’t bad enough here come the “should be on a maxim cover” pictures. I thought the claim was that pageants are about building self-esteem and acknowledging not only the beauty but the brains of these young women. Hahaha. Joking. Obviously any event that still judges women in bikinis is not about brains. How can that possibly build self-esteem? Oh you are prefect 34-24-36 but…….not perfect enough. Back to the pictures. Hmmm. A women in her panties with nothing but a men’s shirt…..sounds like a man’s fantasy rather than a positive role model for young girls. The whole thing is ridiculous and is perpetuating the idea that woman are objects rather than human beings. I will not be watching …….will you?

equal pay day 2010

yea i know its not us currency but its still the same message.
today is equal pay day, meaning a woman had to have worked all the way till today to make what a man made in the previous year! yea its pretty ridic if you think about it like that. we are four months into the year and almost done with the month of april and a woman is JUST getting the making the same as a man in the previous year!! while some people don't believe in the pay discrimination, that's what today is all about! showing the world that women are still discriminated against, even in 2010. wear red to signify how much women are in the red.
